You can be tight with money all you want, but you should never be tight with your time! If someone needs a few dollars, it’s perfectly fine to tell them you aren’t in a position to help them out right now. They will totally understand. But if they need some of your time, do whatever you can to give it to them. Even if you would rather do something else, right now you need to be with your friends whenever they need you. Show them that you are responsive to their needs.
Not sure if you want to be part of a couple or fly solo? Hang out with a married couple for a day or two—kids optional. Do you feel a sense of longing or a sense of “thank goodness that’s not me”? That should help.
You like to flirt. Come on, admit it. But then when your partner looks a little too engrossed in a certain conversation, you’re liable to feel jealous. Be honest about your feelings, and don’t expect a double standard.
Of course money has everything to do with the way people see you. If you’re not positive about that, then do a little experimenting. Spend the day in your rattiest clothes and then your best. That should motivate you.
