No matter where you go, what the circumstances are, or why you happen to be there, more often than not you’re likely to be made the honorary principal and the financial officer. Most times you don’t mind. In fact, you often enjoy it. If this is one of those times when you don’t want to be on duty, bow out graciously. If you see a need, as usual, you’ll jump in and help. But for your own sake, take some time off.

Share things with your partner, such as adventures you’ve always wanted to try. Take an art class at a local college or join a running group together. Be open to new experiences as a couple.

It’s time to take a step back and be analytical about a certain financial situation involving one of your favorite relationships. You may only want to help, but you’re getting in the way of letting them help themselves. They’ll figure out how to do it pretty quickly once you back out. Gracefully, of course.
