Their ideas aren’t as valuable to you right now as the ideas from your peers, so listen to them instead. Closely observe the people who are at your level. What are they doing and how are they doing it? You will learn from their mistakes, and more importantly, you’ll gain insight from their successes.

Do something innovative. Something you’ve never tried before. Knit socks for relatives, check out a new special interest site, or get involved with a volunteer organization. You’re certain to meet a whole new group of people.

Your partner might be going through a lot, but you need to be sure to wait for them to ask before trying to help them with it. Folks are a little more sensitive than usual, and your offer might come across the wrong way.
